Allyson brings over 21 years of experience in medical and dental billing and coding, with a strong emphasis on education and compliance. For the past 17 years, she has served within the North Carolina Community College System, where she has taught a wide range of medical and dental billing and coding courses. Throughout her career in higher education, Allyson has rewritten curricula, redesigned classes, and launched new programs across community colleges statewide, helping to strengthen and modernize coding education.
In addition to her academic work, Allyson serves part-time as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for AAPC and teaches a variety of courses through AAPC’s Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) program. She is also a PRN Compliance Auditor with DoctorsManagement, LLC and regularly consults with medical and dental practices, providing expertise in coding, billing, auditing, and compliance. Her consulting experience includes a short-term appointment with the ECU School of Dental Medicine as Coding Administrator, where she initiated and led a large-scale dental auditing project.
Allyson is from coastal NC where she lives with her husband, 15-year-old son, and her Boykin Spaniel, Molly. When she’s not teaching or consulting, she enjoys speaking, sharing her expertise, and supporting practices and professionals across the healthcare industry.
